The Manufactured Food Training Grant Program provides funds to support the training needs of manufactured food programs at the State, local, tribal, and territorial levels.

This program is supported by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of a financial assistance award U18FD005951 totaling $2,943,750 with 100 percent funded by FDA/HHS. About the program

Preventive Controls Training Grants are available to regulatory agencies that oversee the safety of manufactured food (human and/or animal food), and who have one or more employees who must complete FSPCA for Human Food or FSPCA for Animal Food.  Alternatively, Pre-Authorized Training is an invitation-only funding model available to State, local, tribal, or territorial regulatory agencies.

The application windows for these programs are listed below.  Applicants to this program can expect an easy application process, up-front funding when required by the project, and simple reporting requirements.

Project categories

Funds may be used to assist regulatory programs in completing projects that meet FDA’s training goals and objectives in several categories:

Human Food Training

Funding for regulatory staff to attend the FSPCA Preventive Controls for Human Food Course or the Train the Trainer Course

Animal Food Training

Funding for regulatory staff to attend the FSPCA Preventive Controls for Animal Food Course or the Train the Trainer Course

Pre-Authorized Training*

*The program may close earlier if available grant funds have been depleted before that time.  Funding is available to eligible applicants on a first-come, first-served basis.

View the status of your grant award(s), view and print copies of both awarded and declined applications, view and print copies of your official award letter(s), and submit required reports and reimbursement requests. We are accepting grant applications for training that will be completed through 12/31/2022.

Reimbursement requests

The online grants management portal system is now accepting reimbursement requests from participants whose grant applications were approved. Use your username and password in the right menu of this page to access your individualized reports. In addition, Grant Reimbursement Instructions are located on the right side of this home page underneath the “Reimbursement Request” header.

Please Note: A reimbursement check will be made to the organization that was approved for each grant, and cannot be made payable to any individual.
